Atkins Diet: Food Pyramid

Though pyramid and diet seem to have nothing in common at all, there is some connection between them. Most of the nutritional specialists use pyramids to illustate the eating plan and namely the amount of different food types to consume in accordance with the certain dieting strategy. The foods are placed on different levels of the pyramid, according to the recommended amounts to consume. Thus, the foods, which are recommended to eat in the largest quantities, are placed at the bottom of the pyramid, and the foods to consume in very little amounts are located at the top.

Two pyramids below illustrate two approaches to eating: traditional one and the approach, offered by the Atkins diet. These pyramids help to understand all the basic differences between the typical and the most common for industrialized countries eating regimen and that proposed by Dr. Robert Atkins.
