Its goal is the reduction of calorie intake to about 1000 kcal per day and eating only certain types of foods which will keep the body in a state of ketosis. In his book Tarnower points out what foods should be eaten to get a precise prescription of protein, fat and carbohydrate. This exact daily combination intake of the three diet components will stimulate fat burning effect.
The diet is followed for 7 or 14 days. At the end of a two-week period the dieter can count on 10 to 20 lost pounds.
