The Volumetrics diet was named the best diet of the year 2007 in the USA. The author of this real bestseller is Dr. Barbara J. Rolls, a scientist whose research work is widely known among nutrition professionals and diet experts.
Barbara Rolls has perfect education portfolio with the Masters Degree from the University of Oxford and the Doctorate in physiology from the University of Cambridge. Besides, she is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Roll also worked at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she was Professor of Psychiatry.
During her medical career Dr. Rolls held different positions, such as the president of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior and the North American Association for the Study of Obesity. She was also a member of the Advisory Council of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIH), and a member of the National Task Force on the Prevention and Treatment of Obesity.
Dr. Rolls devoted more than 20 years of her life to scientific researches, focused mainly on the study of hunger and obesity. She has been especially interested in the issues concerning food and fluid intake, and its influence on the development of obesity and different eating disorders. The results of her long-term research formed the basis for the Volumetrics Weight-Control Plan, which later grew into the Volumetrics Eating Plan.
The Volumetrics diet is, to some extent, a unique weight-loss strategy, because it does not blame carbs, fats or proteins for the development of obesity. Consequently, it cannot be defined as low-fat, low-carb or high-protein diet.

If a small amount of certain product provides large amount of calories – this product is said to have high energy density and vice versa.
